Professional Service Staff Contact

PGR Student Support Officer, eee-pgradmin@sheffield.ac.uk

The PGR SSO's can assist with any queries relating to your progress and can refer you to the most appropriate person when further support is needed.

In-person enquiries can be made by visiting the student support office (E124) in the Sir Frederick Mappin Building. The standard opening hours are Monday - Friday 09:00- 5:00pm

Academic Staff

Professor Antonio Griffo, Director of Postgraduate Research (years 1 and 2), a.griffo@sheffield.ac.uk

Professor Griffo assists with the progression of PhD students through the first two years of their PhDs. This includes their confirmation reviews.

Professor Stephen Matcher, Director of Postgraduate Research (years 3+), s.j.matcher@sheffield.ac.uk

Professor Matcher oversees the progression of PhD students beyond their second year of study. This involves their vivas and any time limit extension requests.

Professor Jon Willmott, Director of Postgraduate Researcher Admissions, j.r.willmott@sheffield.ac.uk

Professor Willmott directs the recruitment of PhD students in the department.

Professor Mark Hopkinson, Director of Research & Innovation, m.hopkinson@sheffield.ac.uk

Professor Hopkinson oversees departmental research strategy and support.

Student representative 

Ms Mengqiu Duan, known as Tayclyn,  is our PGR student representative, MQDuan2@sheffield.ac.uk

She is in her second year of PhD studies in EEE and has volunteered to act as EEE PGR student representative. You can contact her when you want to report issues with or have suggestions for improvement of facilities or procedures related to your research or wellbeing in the department. 

Wellbeing Support

Mr Mick Berry, Faculty of Engineering Student Wellbeing Advisor, michael.berry@sheffield.ac.uk

Mr Berry oversees student wellbeing throughout the whole faculty of engineering. There is an introduction to Mr Berry on the Engineering ED&I website.

Health & Safety

Mr Tom Harrison, Departmental Health & Safety Office,  t.g.harrison@sheffield.ac.uk

Mr Harrison is responsible for health and safety within EEE. He curates the EEE health and safety website.
