Blackboard & Muse

Through the universities' online services, you will be able to access your university email account, reading lists, course materials, and library catalogues. Below are the services available to you, and how to access them:

Blackboard

Blackboard is the University’s online module support system, also known as a Virtual Learning Environment, or VLE.  You will have a Blackboard site for each of the modules that you study – the site will contain module and assessment information.  In most cases you will submit your assignments via the module Blackboard site.  As well as pages for your modules, you will also find the DLL Student Hub on Blackboard, listed under 'organisations' in the left-hand menu.

A guide to Blackboard can be found here.

Muse

MUSE (My University of Sheffield Environment) is the University portal that gives you access to online services and information.  You log in with your student username and password.  More information and support is available here.

Once you have logged in via MUSE, you will be able to access your University email account, the StarPlus Library catalogue, other University services, and Blackboard. You will also need to be logged into your University account to access the e-books and journals that the University subscribes to.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

MFA is an additional security check implemented by the university. When you first log in to your university account, you will be prompted to set up MFA. Once this has been done, an MFA check will be required each time you log in. This can also be set up to be required once a week.
