Digital Technologies
Year 10 - Semester Option
Year 10 - Semester Option
Digital Technologies introduces learners to different areas of designing and developing creative digital outcomes. Learners will explore a range of digital media and coding tools to allow them to design and develop their own unique outcomes. There are three main projects in the class focusing on game design, web design and electronics. Learners learn how to create sprites, animations and other digital imaging techniques using Adobe Creative Cloud software. They also learn how to design and code a platform game. Learners learn how to design and code a website using html, css and javascript. In electronics learners learn programming, soldering and electronics theory. They design and create an outcome using Arduino.
The course will develop design thinking and problem-solving skills while building knowledge and skills relating to:
design principles and their application to game design and web design
development of skills in producing a range of different types of digital graphics
development of practical skills such as soldering and 3d modeling.
coding and programming for games, websites and electronics
computer science principles that are the foundation of our digital world
This course will be beneficial to learners who are thinking of pursuing Digital Technologies, DVC, Art or Textiles as NCEA subjects or in the future.
Course Contribution: $30 indicative amount, may be subject to change.
