YEAR 11 History

Aims 

To further learners historical understanding of some major trends and developments in the 20th/ 21st centuries and develop a greater understanding of themselves and others in New Zealand society and beyond. 

Course Content 

Year 11 History will consist of a broad study course, with in-depth studies being taken throughout the year. These may include:

Skills 

Information Gathering - Examining information from a variety of sources; selecting appropriate information; recording information in an organised way

Information Processing - Selecting relevant information from a variety of sources: assessing the limitations of a piece of evidence; distinguishing fact from opinion; recognising specific points of view, bias and propaganda; comprehending simple historical relationships between cause and effect, past and present, continuity and change

Presentation - Presenting information in an effective way — written, visual and/or oral — with well chosen evidence and reasoned conclusions
