Cadets will be at their desk in the position of Parade Rest when the tardy bell rings. Otherwise, they will be considered late.
Cadets will come to attention when commanded by the Flight Commander (FC) at the beginning and the end of class. The FC will report attendance to the Instructor and cadets will remain at the position of attention until ordered to be seated by the Instructor or FC.
The Flight Sergeant (FS) will assist the FC in maintaining classroom discipline. He/she will call the classroom to attention when a Distinguished Visitor enters the classroom.
Cadets will not be dismissed until they clean their tables and surrounding area. The FC will dismiss class after approval of the instructor.
As established by the SHS school administration, no cellular phones, iPods, CD players, or other electronic devices are allowed to be visible or turned on in class without specific permission from the instructor. Unauthorized items will be taken to the school administration for disciplinary action.
Foul language or “put downs” are not permitted.
Cadets who are disruptive or disrespectful in class will be disciplined by the instructor or referred to the Dean’s office. The severity of the incident will determine the level of consequence rendered from the discipline ladder.
Cadets are expected to be alert and attentive throughout the entire class period. They will not be permitted to have their heads on their desks or lean their chair back on two legs. Any cadet doing so, or falling asleep, will be required to stand in the back of the classroom.
Cadets absent from class may receive a “0” grade for assignments that day until the work is completed and turned in. It is the cadet’s responsibility to coordinate with the instructor, and complete any missed assignments.
Cadets who are going to be absent from class at the request of another teacher must obtain prior approval.
Cadets are required to wear their prescribed uniform once a week as designated by their Instructors. Failure to do so will result in the cadet receiving a “0” for that day. Cadets who do not wear their uniform to standard the whole day, unless previously approved by the Instructor, may receive a “0” for that day.
When in uniform, cadets must adhere to the appropriate grooming standards.
These rules are designed to supplement school rules and the Cadet Guide, and may be modified by the JROTC instructors as required.
