The purpose of the promotion system is to have a consistent, equitable, and visible system of reward and recognition for cadets who consistently meet or exceed standings of performance, leadership, academics, dress and appearance, and behavior. Recognition of cadets who contribute to the success of the corps are recognized by advancements in permanent rank. There are two promotion cycles a year.
General requirements for promotion include:
Maintain positive conduct on and off campus
Earn the minimum or higher GPA for all courses
Maintain the minimum or higher grade in AFJROTC
Actively support Corps Goals
Understand and be able to write (with correct spelling): the Cadet Honor Code, the AFJROTC Mission Statement and Motto, and the Core Values
Earn the minimum number of merits required to promote
(1 hour of AFJROTC sponsored event = 1 merit; 1 hour of non-AFJROTC event = .5 merits)
Achieve an "A" grade on the Knowledge Test
Receive a "Promote" recommendation on the Promotion Board Interview
Complete the drill requirements for your position
While your promotion is based on three major pillars during Promotion Week: (your Promotion Board Interview, Knowledge Test, and drill), the decision to promote you is ultimately made by the SASI/ASI, who watch your behavior, attitude, and performance during each cycle. Below are the requirements to promote to each rank.
