You must call every command provided on your card, and use critical thinking and spatial awareness to "fill in the blanks" of the command sequence.
Your formation must remain in the provided area for the entirety of the 6-Step Exam. As commander, you are not part of the formation and thus can go outside of the provided area.

Commanding the 30-Step Drill Sequence:
Helpful Hints
Remain a good distance away from the formation. Remember: you are commanding the formation, not a part of it!
Always keep an eye on the formation, and be quick to call out formation misalignment or cadences to ensure the formation is looking professional.
As you are calling Column Rights, go to Mark Time as you call "Column Right, March" on the right foot. This will allow you to maintain the appropriate distance from your flight.
Call "Eyes, Right" and "Ready, Front" one after the other as to stay in the provided marching area.

Fall In: Cadets fall into a line formation. As commander, stand 3 paces and centered in front of the flight.
Size the Flight: 'Taller Tap' will be executed when a cadet who is taller taps the shorter cadet on his/her right shoulder, given that the cadet is in front of him/her. The shorter cadet will step back 45 degrees to the right, the taller cadet will step forward into their place, and the shorter cadet will assume the position of the taller cadet. If the cadets are familiar with the Tall Tap sequence, the commander could call "Taller Tap" after every facing movement. To initiate Tall Tap, the commander will call the following:
“Right Face”
“With the exception of the element leader, if you are taller than the cadet in front of you, tap them on the shoulder and move forward.”
“Right Face”
“With no exceptions, if you are taller than the cadet in front of you, tap them on the shoulder and move forward.”
“Left Face”
“With the exception of the element leader, if you are taller than the cadet in front of you, tap them on the shoulder and move forward.” (The flight is now in column formation, with element leaders at the head)
Count Off: After the last command, march to face the flight. The command “Count Off” must be given while cadets are in column formation. The cadets in the first rank turn his/her head 45 degrees and in unison, call out “ONE” and then turn his/her heads back. Once all of the first rank’s heads have turned back to the front, the individuals in the second rank turn his/her head 45 degrees and call out “TWO.” Each rank then follows the same pattern. The flight will go through the "Count Off" sequence twice.
Open Ranks: Return the flight to line formation with a "Left Face" and march to 6 paces in front of the flight. The commander will give the command “Open Ranks, March”. The proper distance is 70 inches between ranks. The flight automatically executes Dress Right Dress as each cadet steps into place and remains so until the flight has been aligned.
Align the Flight: This is to ensure all members of the flight are in the correct place and ensure the inspectors can move easily within the flight. The commander will move with haste and perform proper and full facing movements. To align cadets, instruct them to move forward or backward by their "number" and call "1st cadet, back" (and so on). After aligning the 4th element, march around the rear of the flight to 3 paces in front of the flight. Ensure you are facing the flight when calling the next command.
Ready Front: Call the command "Ready, Front". The cadets will lower their arms and, if not in the position of element leader, snap their heads forward.
Parade Rest: The commander will be inspected. After inspection, call 2nd, 3rd, and 4th elements to "Parade Rest".
Report In: The commander will take one pace, execute a Right Face, salute, and report to the inspector as appropriate. For example: “(Sir/Ma’am), FL-035 (Flight Name) is prepared for inspection, (sir/ma’am).” The inspector will ask the commander to accompany him/her during the inspection.
Close Ranks: Once the flight has been inspected and you return to the front of the flight, call all elements to Attention and command "Close Ranks, March". Finally, the commander will call "Flight, Fall Out".
Commander must run their formation into the flank of the opponent's formation / the rear of their formation
If formations are face-to-face and collide, the last formation to make a movement is out.
Commanders may only use commands from the 30-Step Drill Sequence
Leaving the pre-determined Drill Pad results in loss
Commanders are not considered part of the formation, so they are free to collide with other formations, leave the Drill Pad, etc.
Knocked-out cadets can become stationary "landmines" on the Drill Pad to speed up the game.
