The Marksmanship Team Ribbon is awarded for participation on the Marksmanship Team for an entire season, attending practices, and competing in at least 1 competition.
The Special Teams Placement Ribbon is awarded to team members for placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in an Air Force or Joint Service Competition.
The Marksmanship Team procedures and competitions are governed by the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Each shooter will develop safe weapon handling knowledge and abilities. He or she will also become skilled in the three-position course of fire. The team shoots precision air rifles at 10-bull targets over a distance of ten meters. This team competes locally against other JROTC units in the county, as well as in sanctioned tournaments and national “postal matches”.
This activity is open to all cadets. Every member must complete the required permission forms as well as pass the safety test with a 100% at the beginning of each season. An organizational meeting will be held before the beginning of the season. Veteran marksmen review safety procedures and assist the Team Sponsor in teaching the new team members gun safety. Team members then begin regular shooting practice to develop accuracy and consistency.
