CURRENT STATUS


August 27: At last night's meeting, the board approved extending the remote learning for Pre-K3 through 8th grade until September 22nd. Students may be able to return sooner should the number of positive cases decrease to 75 or lower for 7 consecutive days in Kleberg County.

As part of the waiver that was approved and submitted to the Texas Education Agency, TEA, students that do not have access to technology or internet may come into the building for their instruction. August 24: Academy High School students will start Face-to-Face learning for those who wish to return to the campus for instruction.

April 17: In accordance with Governor Abbott's order issued on April 17th, all SGISD campuses will remain closed, but delivering instruction through eLearning. According to TEA "Following on Governor Abbott’s Executive Order on schools issued this afternoon, it is important to note that while the Governor’s decision continues the closure of school buildings for in-person classroom attendance for the duration of the 2019-20 school year, it in no way ends at-home instructional support for Texas’s millions of students." Students will continue to receive daily academic support from their teachers and schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.

March 31: In accordance with Governor Abbott's order issued on March 31, all SGISD campuses will remain closed, but delivering instruction through e learning. According to the order, the earliest schools will be allowed to reopen is May 4.

March 26: Kleberg County has issued a shelter-in-place order. To comply with this order Santa Gertrudis ISD will extend its campus closures through Monday, April 13.

March 13: Out of precaution for the ongoing concern with Coronavirus (COVID-19), Santa Gertrudis ISD will be extending closing our campuses through April 14. All meetings, campus events, practices, and extracurricular activities will be suspended.
