Over the weekend, the state released an update regarding the new Shell IEPs in PowerSchool Special Programs. What this means for our students:
Shell IEPs were only created for students who did not already have an IEP in Review or Final status from this school year.
A Shell IEP is a pre-generated IEP built from data migrated from our legacy system. You’ll see “(Shell IEP)” in the title.
Shell IEPs open in Final status and include the following information:
Student personal and enrollment information
Eligibility, disability, and evaluation details
LRE and testing accommodations
Services and annual goals
While the Shell IEP will contain most of the student’s information, some details may not have migrated over and will still need to be manually entered when revising. Even though the Shell IEP is in Final status, you will still be able to edit it to add or update missing information.
This update should reduce the amount of copying/pasting from PDFs when creating revisions, as much of the baseline data is already included.
This change is designed to speed up our transition into the new system and help us complete progress monitoring on student goals more efficiently.
Open the IEP you were working on. Hover over, "More" and select "Copy Information from Other Document" in the drop-down menu.
Click "View Past Document" on the right hand side of the screen. Select the IEP that has "Shell IEP" in the name.
