Advancement in rank or rate in the SFHS NJROTC program is based on demonstrated performance, academic performance, leadership potential, aptitude, and attitude. Enlisted cadets must successfully complete an Advancement Qualification Package in order to be eligible for advancement.
Those second and third year cadets seeking leadership positions which may lead to an officer rank, must participate in the unit Leadership Aptitude Course (LAC), which is held annually during the 4th quarter of the school year.
The SNSI/NSI will make the final determination regarding each cadet's rank or rate (just completing an Advancement Qualification Package does not guarantee an automatic advancement).
Meritorious advancement/promotion may be awarded by the SNSI/NSI at any time throughout the year for outstanding performance and service to the unit.
In order to pursue advancement to the rank of Cadet Chief Petty Officer, cadets must complete a minimum of 3 semesters of NJROTC before working on the advancement package and will be required to participate in Cadet Chief Petty Officer Training.
