Cultivates Community Partnerships
Cultivates partnerships within the school and local community (including families and caregivers, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, public and higher education libraries, businesses) to promote engagement and a community of readers.
Current Status:
Community Partnerships include:
Collaboration with the local public libraries in order to help our students have access to a public library card and the resources available to them
A district Library Media Specialist representing the school district as a trustee on the Muehl Public Library Board and the Village of Black Creek Public Library Board
Participation in the statewide Battle of the Books program through WEMTA at both the elementary and middle school level.
Developing a collection that reflects diverse cultures and communities in order to offer a more inclusive reading selection as a result of collaboration with or referral to:
the Oneida Student Advocates from the YES program, located in each of our district schools
Local Public Library Directors
professional sites including AICL (American Indian Children’s Literature) and CCBC (Cooperative Children’s Book Center)
Higher education institutions - High school students utilize the library daily to attend upper level online classes
Growth Initiatives:
Extend Battle of the Books to the high school
Extend library staff availability to include library promotion at each building in the district
