Sewanhaka's Homecoming

Welcome to the 2024 varsity football season for the Sewanhaka Ravens! This year marked an exciting change as we proudly introduced the Ravens as our new mascot! “Now that we have a new mascot and new uniforms, it is very exciting to everyone. We finally have something we can cling onto.” says Mr. Caputo, football coach for Sewanhaka High School. Our football team exemplifies hard work and dedication. They spend every day training and perfecting their skills. Their commitment is evident in every practice and game, where they give their all, pushing through fatigue and challenges to improve continually.

          Homecoming kicked off with its yearly parade. The parade’s theme, “It’s all the rave” brought an electrifying energy to help excite everyone before the game. Each graduating class showcased their creativity through their banners and floats.  Each class walked with their banners while the marching band filled the air with energetic music. Their dynamic beats helped transform the streets into a pulsating celebration of our Sewanhaka spirit. The parade not only highlighted the school’s unity, but also set the energy high for the football game, helping to bring students, faculty, and alumni together in celebration.

        After the parade, the football game began! This year, our football team played against H. Frank Carey High School. Unfortunately, we lost with a score of 34-7. Despite the loss, the team showed incredible determination and spirit throughout the game. Ephriam Bolouvi, who plays right guard and d-end says, “Losing a game is temporary; my spirit to win is permanent.” Head coach, Mr. Kasimatis also adds “This loss shouldn’t affect the team’s motivation. I always have high hopes for every game, so I’m sure the rest of the season will go well.” 

         Even though the final score wasn’t in our favor, the team is motivated more than ever to come back stronger and make the rest of the season a success. With the new mascot and fresh uniforms symbolizing a new era, the team is sure to overcome challenges and strive for greatness. As we continue to support our team, we look forward to seeing the players’ hard work translate into victories. Go Ravens!
