Juniors Brendan Certo, Sebastian Haikal, Luc Nowakowski, Josh Ridenour, JJ Stiles, James Zeng, and seniors Michael Hartranft and Luke Urban, led the Labre Ministry this summer by signing up and showing up for continuous weeks throughout the months of June and July. This wasn't just about getting their service hours done as most of them far exceeded the minimal requirements. They truly enjoyed the spirit of serving others together, going above and beyond to offer food and friendship to the unhoused/homeless on the streets of Cleveland. Each week they brought hope to the hopeless, "walking side by side with all people," as stated in the Holy Cross Constitutions 2:12.
Sebastian Haikal offered an impactful reflection on his experience with this ministry. "This experience has helped me see that service brings out the best in all of us. When we come together to care for others, we become more patient, more generous, and more open. It challenges us to look beyond ourselves and focus on the needs of others. Being out there with friends like James has shown me that kindness can be contagious and that teamwork makes every effort more powerful. Service teaches us to lead with compassion and reminds us of the good that exists in people. It makes us stronger as individuals and even stronger as a community."
