EDS: APEX

Quick Reference EDS:

• Open APEX and insert the EDS detector.

• Select your project and name your sample.

• Minimize the chamberscope (Camera.)

• Select a voltage that supplies enough energy for the elements in your specimen.

  • Use a periodic table like this one

• Select a probe current so the Dead Time (DT) reads between 20-40%.

• Adjust the image settings as needed.

• Capture an image.

• Select the mode and define the area.

• Select the quality.

• Start the scan.

• Label the peaks and adjust the background.

• Generate and save a report.
