Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive
Tripler Army Medical Center
Hawaii Pacific University
John A Burns School of Medicine
Students work with community partners from different health related organizations like Tripler Army Medical Center and Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) and Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center. Nursing students from HPU visit health pathway classes, giving students the opportunity to ask questions about college, nursing courses, as well as other career opportunities. Also, students also get the chance to do some hands on activities that the nursing students have put together. Seniors in the pathway have the opportunity to participate in an internship at Tripler. Students get to see what working in a hospital setting is really like. Students learned how to perform testing for COVID-19 and volunteer to help at COVID Vaccination PODS through WCCHC.
HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America)
HOSA is club where all students, in all grade levels, can learn about the healthcare pathway, meet Healthcare Professionals, and learn skills they will use beyond high school.
Students participate in activities related to general health and health care. Some of the benefits for students are:
Meeting Healthcare Professionals
Helping the community
Gaining valuable community service hours for resumes
Meeting and competing against HOSA members from other schools.
