Concept
Death is an inevitable process that everyone must face. The initial concept I explored was the idea of impermanence, which is intrinsically linked to the cycle of life and death. I began to consider how this concept could be woven into the design of a crematorium. As I delved deeper, I realized that the deceased undergo a series of processes during cremation, while the bereaved engage in rituals that are vital to their healing and connection to their loved ones.
Rituals play a profound role in helping people honor and feel connected to those they've lost. It is through these rituals that they find solace and a sense of presence with the departed. With this in mind, I set out to design the crematorium in a way that enhances and supports these sacred practices. The spaces are intended to complement and ease the ritual process, creating an environment where visitors can perform these rites with greater meaning, comfort, and reverence.
