Care Solace

We are excited to share with you a new platform for finding local mental health-related programs and counseling services, Care Solace. This platform can help connect our district community with services for students, parents, and families. Below is a message from the district regarding Care Solace. Please note that you can access this service directly and confidentially. However, if you have questions or would like to work with your LCC counselor to help you connect, please contact your counselor directly.

Wellness Center

The Wellness Center in the Counseling Office is a relaxing space with a person to talk to and a variety of tools to help, such as art supplies, aromatherapy, games, puzzles, mindfulness books, and fidgets. Students can come to the Wellness Center when they're feeling stressed, anxious, or just need a quiet minute to regroup.

Virtual Calm room

Sometimes life is challenging and we feel stressed. When this happens, we need to take steps to become aware of how we are feeling and to manage it.

SDUHSD wants you to know that your feelings are valid. It is an essential life skill to develop self awareness and self management.

This Virtual Calm Room space was created to serve as a break, and to help you find new ways to manage emotions and build your resilience. These resources will hopefully bring you calmness and reset your mind and body when it gets stressful.

We encourage you to make it a priority to care for yourself in healthy ways that work for YOU.

Social Emotional Services We Offer

Where is the school counseling office?

The counseling office is located in the Administration Building. In our office you will find four School Counselors who see students based on the first letter of their last name. We also have a Student Support Specialist and two School Psychologists on site to assist with students. We have a College and Career Center, where we host college visits for juniors and seniors as well as other school related meetings.  When it is available, it is a quiet space for students when needed.

Students

Why visit the counseling office?

You may may be concerned about a class/grades, want to talk about college or career options, or visit when you or a friend may be in need of support. Come by and say hello - we encourage students to come in to ask questions, and get to know the counseling office!

How can a counselor help you or a friend?

Counselors are here to listen, help and work with you to find a good solution. The sooner you reach out to a counselor when something is a concern, the quicker you will be able to solve the problem because you have the counseling support and resources to help you.

Some examples of what a counselor can help with: "What classes should I take?" "I need help in knowing how to improve my grades," “I want to talk about college admission requirements,” "I'm nervous about talking with my teacher," "My friend and I are arguing and I can't focus in class because of it," "I'm feeling stressed about things going on at home and school," “I’m worried about a friend,” ”I’m feeling like I don’t fit in.”

How do I see my counselor?

Parents

A school counselor can help parents address:

How do I contact my child's counselor?

School counselors can be reached by phone, email or by scheduling an appointment (see contact information).

If a student has a 504 Plan or IEP, the Counselor (504) or Education Specialist (IEP) can help address concerns.
