College Planning & Applying

As 12th grade students continue to prepare and navigate through the college application process, we’d like to highlight helpful resources that SDUHSD is providing in collaboration with each high school's resources to support our senior students.

The SDUHSD College and Career events calendar is updated regularly with college and career opportunities open to all students who attend high schools in SDUHSD.

Scholarships listed are open to all eligible students in San Dieguito Union High School District.  Students are encouraged to investigate specific college/University scholarships by visiting the college/ University website.   Local scholarships are also available to students, students should visit their individual high school counseling website for site specific scholarship information.

This document includes a variety of resources, links and information related to the college application process for current seniors.

LCC Counseling College Admissions Process:

It is recommended you print out and review the help documents below to make sure you fulfill all of the necessary steps in the college application process.

UC/CSU do not evaluate letters of recommendation in their application process.  If a student has verified a Counselor recommendation is needed for their application, it is up to the student to ask a potential recommender directly through an email.  If the recommender agrees to write a recommendation, please follow each recommenders process for FERPA and packet collection that will be given to each student on an individual basis

Here is a list of common application colleges/universities and what is required (ie: counselor recommendation, teacher recommendation, etc).  For any colleges that are not on this list, please visit the freshman admission requirements page on the website for the individual college/university.

Teacher Recommendation Process:

Please review this list to see if the colleges and universities you are applying to require a recommendation.  For any colleges that are not on this list, please visit the freshman admission requirements page on the website for the individual college/university.

Please contact your teacher to ask for a letter of recommendation and to find out their recommendation process.  Here is a general teacher recommendation brag packet if needed and asked for from you by your teacher/s.
