SAT & ACT College Admission Tests
Standardized testing is an important part of college admissions. Students should take time to plan and prepare for these tests, as well as know what tests are needed before they apply to college.
Students will have the opportunity to take the PSAT (practice SAT) during 11th grade. This practice test happens during the fall of 11th grade academic year and you can find more information about test dates on the yearly LCC Calendar on the website.
PSAT
Typically taken in 11th grade through LCC on a designated Saturday in October. Sign up through the LCC webstore or the finance office.
The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) is a test designed to help students practice for the SAT. It is also used to determine eligibility for scholarships awarded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation when it is taken junior year. A student can sign up for and take the PSAT to practice and get a sense of how they will do on the SAT.
PreACT
We do not offer the PreACT at LCC.

Should I take the AP exam for the AP course I am enrolled in?
In short, the answer is, “yes.” However, there’s a lot of debate out there about the answer to this question. Here are some good reasons why you *should* take AP exams:
It’s possible for you to earn college credit, since 90% of the colleges in the United States offer credit for qualifying scores. Check with the colleges and universities to which you are applying.
You could receive an AP Scholar Award. These are awarded to students who score a 3 or higher on three or more AP exams and are great to add to your college admission application. Visit the College Board for more information on the AP Scholar Award.
It could help you determine how well prepared you are for college. If you score a 3 or higher on an AP exam then you should enter similar college-level courses with a certain confidence you otherwise may not have.
