Congrats! You survived your first year of high school! Although we don't expect you to know exactly what your life after high school will look like, we want to encourage you to begin preparing for whatever that might be. Getting involved on campus, getting to know your counselor, thinking about your four year plan and starting your career and college exploration. Additionally, we have provided some great resources below to help make sure your Sophomore year begins and ends with confidence.

Get to know your counselor. We are here to answer any questions you may have.
For scholarships, important documents, and information from the counseling office: Join the Google classroom page for counseling with the class code for your graduation year.
Counselors will present valuable information for 10th-grade students in November during Registration Presentations (for fall classes) including SDUHSD graduation requirements, college entrance requirements, testing information, and general tips.
Check the counseling website and this web page periodically.
Check your grades on Aeries regularly. Progress reports and report cards are not mailed so we are counting on you to be logging in to check your grades weekly.
Start your career and college exploration using Big Future. There are also other beneficial resources that can be found here.
Time management is crucial in high school. You'll have more homework and more activities to balance-stay organized!
Stay on top of your homework and see your teachers for extra help. They are happy to schedule a time to meet with you.
Get to know your teachers. They want you to be successful in high school.
Attend your in-class grade-level counseling presentations and ask questions!
You can create and revise a Four-Year Plan at any time. Make an appointment with your counselor if you want assistance with creating a plan.
Read any and all school announcements and emails to stay up to date with important information and events.
Play a sport, join a club, try out for a school play, attend all of our school events, and do things you love best! Be an active participant in the Maverick community.
