Most epic moment of the program this year:
I directed a legit, double-casted production of "Almost, Maine" for my 3rd period beginning drama class. Teaching the whole performance cohort how to beatbox was a close second, though.
I love the special bonds I make with my students and how no class or day is the same!
I love sharing my passion for fine art with others!
I love to teach PE because I get to teach academic content and life long physical skills that my students can use throughout their entire life. I love to watch when my students perfect a skill and see the look of pure joy and excitement on their face. These moments will hopefully be memories they remember for a lifetime.
Most epic moment in the program this year:
Conducting the winter concert with the kids after a semester of work and achievement.
I learned that my weaknesses can also be my best strengths in teaching.
I have learned that I continually think about how to make a lesson, a unit, a day better in the classroom. I want students to be excited and engaged every day they walk into my class.
Most epic moment in the program this year:
When I was able to make a full class of students laugh at my musical joke which helped them to understand the concept. It felt like I truly was able to connect to the students and understand them at that moment, and vice versa.
I love teaching because I love seeing students grow and make breakthroughs both in and out of the classroom. Some students started off struggling with their musical skills and are now able to do things they didn't think were possible in August. Seeing each student grow and become their own person has been one of the most rewarding and exciting parts of my teaching experience and I look forward to seeing their continued growth in the coming years.
I love to teach because it brings purpose and meaning to people's lives. It is always the teachers (that includes parents because they are teachers too) that influence us the most, especially when it comes to how and why we will live. I am excited to be a teacher that encourages my students to thrive.
Most inspirational moment in the program:
Seeing an improvement in test scores for my English language learners.
The most inspirational experience I had was attending the CAHPERD Conference and being around like minded passionate physical education teachers.
My most epic moment was during Gratitude Week when I received 12 hand-written thank you letters from students. Currently, they are taped up on my bedroom wall until I have a classroom of my own to display them in.
Most epic moment in the program:
Coaching my female athletes to deadlifting double body weight.
This year I was given the privilege of working with students who were just starting out on their instruments. I got to watch so many 8-11 year olds begin shy and scared of their instruments and become outgoing, excited, and confident with their instruments over the course of the year. It was so cool to see them start to fall in love with band, making new friends, and finding a "place" to be part of.
Music
I love the energy and creativity that students have, and it is rewarding to see them grow and reach their full potential.
The epic moment that I had this year would have to be the time I was able to go to Disneyland with my band and walk the parade route next to them as they performed for the people in the park. Seeing all of the audiences faces light up as we walked by and played our marching tunes made me remember how important music is in everyone's lives, not just those who are learning it.
