If somebody would ask me, what would be the greatest most spectacular travel, I've ever done?
I would surely conclude that it would be the the ten month, I spent in Canada. Quite frank, just for the reason that I was never part of a different culture to that extend. Never, I was exposed to that many different adventures in one voyage. If you would be to ask me, what was the best thing, or the most exciting thing about the experience was, it would be to hard to specify on a single thing.
Though, there were several outstanding features of my Journey and I will do my best to summarize them.
Nelson, B.C. Canada
First and foremost, the people. The cultural difference between Germany and Canada may not be in the extreme; however, there is definetely one. I was suprised, how friendly people are. I got to know new teachers, people, friends and something very close to a new family. My host family consisted of my host-father, my host-mother, a little host-sitster, a tiny (maybe a bit bossy) host-brother and a spanish guestbrother. They were a really openminded family and helped me with a lot and definetely advanced my stay in Canada. It wasn't very difficult to meet new friends, as most Canadians are pretty sociable. Also, I was enrolled in school and skied a lot, which both helped me to connect to a lot of people.
There was something else, which improved the ten months enormously, the Aboriginal Education program. I am not sure how exactly, but luckily I got the chance to participate in some activities of the Aboriginal Education program. The program was led by Toni Appleby and she ensured some brilliant experiences. It taught me much about the history, values, customs and beliefs of native Canadians, taught me about wildlife and the environment, connected me with a some incredible people and made me experience incredible activities. I especially remember dog sledding, bearspray training, meeting a vietnam veteran elder and a three day pictograph hunting trip. Unfortunately, I will not go into much detail here. That being said, let me assure you the Aboriginal Education program is a goldmine.
Forward, a different element that made my stay so valueable was the amount of outdoor sports avaible to me. I was able to practice quite a lot in many diverse sports and learned new tricks and better techniques. That definetely added a finishing touch to my visit.
Lastly, my father, borther and halfbrother picked me up for a road trip through British Columbia and Alberta. I must admit, we skied a lot through that trip. That being said, we also hiked, and did sightseeing.

Though, on top of all the other aspects, I fell in love with a cute and smart canadian girl that might have been the best adventure.
Now, while I would surely enjoy chanting about my year in Canada, I bet you would like to know something of my other travels.
