Our very first Media Arts assignment was to 'play around' and create two different types of typogrophy art pieces. One being just a written adjusted font and the other one being not written out, but recognizable meaning that you were not allowed to use Photoshop fonts.
At first I thought about what I am going to write down and eventually, my lightbulb went on. I figured that I could create some good looking typography for my website.
First, I had to find a fitting background, so I searched for a couple wallpapers on pixabay. I found three that seemed fitting and went on to edit them. I selected a suiting font and adjusted it to the degree I wanted, then I went on to bending and distorting the font just a little. The last thing to do was to create a shadow. The first picture was ready:
Even though the first image looked fine, I wasn't quite happy with it, since it wasn't quite powerfull enough. I decided to not hand in the first picture. Now I repeated most of the steps above, but this time I distorted it manually. Finished was the second picture, which I handed in.
The third typography was going to be a little bit more difficult, as I wasn't allowed to just write it out. After giving it a couple thoughts, I decided to cut out pieces from images, like the earth, crabs, polar bears, a dead tree(the L) and cinammon sticks(, which were supposed to look like dead trees) and decided to write Climate Change. However, after working a lot on the picture. I realized it would be better to just write down 'Climate' and let the picture speak for itself. In my mind that was an even more powerfull message. I was a little under time pressure, since we were going on to the next assignment. Finally, I finished the last typograph picture. That being said, I wasn't fully satisfied with it.
