It could be a photo, a video, a screenshot or even just a note describing what you did.
The following challenges are meant to support areas of ADST and STEM curriculum.
Blackout Poetry
Blackout poetry is a type of “found” poetry.
Materials:
- A photocopy of a page in your book, an old book that you can rip the pages out, or a newspaper. (I have attached pages of “The Outsider” and “Tilly”)
- Writing utensil (pen, marker, pencil, etc)
Instructions: Scan/read the page for words and phrases that create a poem. Circle these words and read it out loud to make sure your poem makes sense.
After circling the words, you can sketch a design that fits with the theme or images of the poem.
Next use a sharpie and go over your pencil marks.
Use a dark medium (paint, markers, pencil crayon) to colour over everything except your poem. Your poem jumps out of the text from there.
You wont notice it at first but you are looking at language, word choice, imagery, mood, and theme as you create your poems!
Digital Escape Room
You may have tried an escape room before where you are actually locked in a room you need to solve your way out of, like Exit in Kelowna. In this challenge you are completing a digital escape room meaning you have to solve the clues in order to escape. You will need to use the clues included in the Google Doc reference sheet below (you will want to print it if you can) as well as clicking on the link to start the escape room. Be sure to use your full name. Have fun and good luck!
