Choose the challenge(s) you would like to complete from the options listed below

When you have done a challenge, email evidence of completion to Mr. Devito at sdevito@summer.com

The following challenges are meant to support areas of ADST and STEM curriculum.

Art:

Shadow Art

What does your shadow say about your Courage?

Materials:

  • Paper

  • writing utensil (pen, marker, pencil, etc)

  • object(s) to trace. (toys, kitchen stuff, plant, etc)

Shadow art is a unique form of sculptural art where the 2D shadows cast by a 3D sculpture.

The best time of day to do it? Whenever the sun is out and casting its shadow! Although you could use an indoor light as well.

In my shadow art, I choose an object around my house. It is a fish sculpture that sits on my water tank. I traced around the fish many times, I moved it around the paper to create an artistic effect. As I was tracing my fish, my cat (Ahsoka) decided she wanted to be traced as well. See if you can find the 2 cat heads.

**If you completed an art challenge from Mrs. Boef, please email me. aboef@sd67.bc.ca or message me on Microsoft teams. I would love to see your artwork, and chat about it.

Compose Your Own Drum Beat!

As this week is all about courage, I thought it would be a great opportunity for KVR to practice their composing skills. So, we are going to create our own drum beats!

Using Splice Beatmaker, click the different squares on the grid to add or subtract different sounds to your beat. Each row has a different sound, and each column (along the bottom of the squares) represent the different pulses of your beat.

To hear your beat played back to you, press the triangle "play button" in the top left corner. Use the "Tempo" menu to change the speed of your beat.

Once you are happy with your drum beat, snap a recording of it and send it to me!

Have fun, and have the courage to get creative in your beat making!
