Social Emotional Learning - Week 7
Charades: Feelings and Empathy
Work together to come up with a list of different feeling words, and write them down. Try to have about the same number of enjoyable feelings (i.e. happy, excited) as uncomfortable feelings (i.e. frustrated, confused).
Take turns to select one of the feeling words and act out the emotion using facial and body expressions, while the others try to guess which feeling it is.
Continue playing until all the words have been acted out, or as many fit in your time frame.
Thinking about Character
Together with a family member, or members, think about three words that best describe you and each of the people you are playing with. Write all the names of the people taking part on a piece of paper. Next to each name write down three words that you would use to describe yourself and each person. Share and compare the things you wrote about each other.
Kindness share
Discuss what it means to be kind and give compliments. come up with some examples together. Then, have each person (kids and adults) write their name on a piece of paper. Pass that paper to your right. When you get someone else’s paper, write something kind and thoughtful about that person.
Mindful colouring/doodling
Set the tone with some calming music. Have kids color or doodle quietly as they slowly breathe in and out.
