General Information:

Every student is required to perform a solo at the festival.

Each student will be assigned to a 30 minute time slot at 6:00 pm, 6:30 pm, 7:00 pm, 7:30 pm, 8:00 pm or 8:30pm.

Each student should arrive 15 minutes before his or her assigned time.

Students will put cases and coats in the Cafeteria. Students should also warm up in the Cafeteria.

Students will go to his or her performance room 5 minutes before the recital start time.

Students in each 30 minute block will perform for one another and family members.

Students will perform a solo that will be assigned by the director.

Students will perform solos with Smartmusic accompaniment.

An adult will be in the room to introduce students and to help as needed.

Once the entire group has performed for one another, everyone will be finished.

This is a dress-up event! No jeans, t-shirts, or tennis shoes allowed!

Students will be instructed and assisted with solos during class time but they will need to practice and prepare for this event outside of band.

Each student has access to a recording with the solo piece played by a professional and with only the piano part.

Students should listen to the recording, play along with it, and play the solo with only the piano accompaniment and Smartmusic.

This is a required part of the 4th quarter band grade.

Any conflicts should be made known to the director 3 weeks in advance so that alternate arrangements can be made.

Failure to participate in this event or failure to make advance special arrangements will result in a zero grade.

Plan ahead!

Listen to your accompaniment recording and practice along with it.

Practice your music outside of band time!

Do not put this off! You must be prepared for your solo.

We will be hearing solo “samples” during class!

On the Performance Day this is a dress up event! NO jeans or tennis shoes! The event will be held at Traughber JHS.

You are only required to be at your recital block-not the entire evening.

A solo schedule is posted online and in the Music Area. Please check it and let Mrs. M & Miss R know of any conflicts asap!
