Dear Students,
You have reached a critical stage in your secondary education where you have to start making decisions about your future.
Over the next few weeks, you will be making decisions, which could influence your future choices. You will be studying a Curriculum Pathway through Key Stage 4, which will include some subjects you have selected to study.
Successful young adults of the future will need to demonstrate high expectations of themselves and a determination to succeed in a global environment, which is rapidly changing.
Our Key Stage 4 Pathway is designed to offer a broad and balanced curriculum, which will give you flexibility in your future career choice. High levels of literacy and numeracy will form the core foundations of a successful learner and all students will be supported in achieving their personal goals.
You may have broad ideas about possible careers or you may have not begun to think about it yet.
If you feel that you have no idea at all, are there subjects which you feel you can achieve well in or is there a new subject being offered that looks particularly interesting? This is the kind of question you need to ask as you consider the subjects on the pathways website, to ensure that you choose the right courses for Key Stage 4 study.
Do not select a subject just because your friends have selected it, remember that you are your own person, you are unique and special, choose subjects that reflect that.
Do not choose subjects because of the teacher as their timetables change each year. Please do your research and discuss your thoughts and interests with your teachers and parents/carers. Take your time before you make your final decision.
If you choose wisely you will have already crossed one of the major barriers needed to go on and achieve great results at the end of Year 11!
