Core Physical Education at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy aims to support students in acquiring a range of physical skills and experiences related to games, dance and sport, and to develop knowledge and understanding of human performance through participation in a range of physical activities.
The general aim of the Core PE programme is for all students to improve their personal fitness, foster interest in physical education and encourage participation in physical activity. Additionally we attempt to develop self-confidence, co-operation, health coordination, alertness, respect, determination, agility, enjoyment, strength and potential.
In order to achieve these aims, we organise a comprehensive programme of games and activities that promote life-long fitness and health alongside lessons that educate students on the values of healthy lifestyle and the body's positive adaptation to sport and fitness. We give students access to a full body conditioning gym and a cardio studio in both lessons and through enrichment .
We also offer students in KS4 activities such as yoga and mindfulness alongside traditional sports and activities such as football, dance, trampolining and basketball .
Our ethos in 2012 is to create a varied , full and exciting programme that inspires our students into lifelong fitness and wellbeing
