Cyclocross National Trophy event

Rianna has been competing in the London and South East league and really struggled with it in the first few races. However, she persevered with the races and has been attending specific cyclocross training every week since September. On 23 October she took part in her first ever cyclocross national trophy event she raced her heart out and finished a very respectable 21st out of 31 in the under 14 girls category. More importantly, she thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience! She has kept up the good work and will race in the regional championships soon at Gravesend and then has another national trophy event next month.

Rianna also competed in the National Hill Climb Championship 2021. Returning to the home of hill climbing for the first time since 1977, Winnats Pass (Peak District) has hosted this event more than any other climb in the UK. Rianna did two practice attempts the day before the competition and both times she was unable to get to the top without stopping. She lost her shoes after her practice but through some frantic messages via Facebook, these were returned to her on the morning of the race! The weather conditions on race day were horrible. There was torrential rain and it was very cold. Rianna, usually very calm before a race, was feeling sick with nerves and wasn't sure if she could make it up the hill (if you put your foot down at any point you are disqualified) but through sheer grit and determination she got to the top and made history by being the first female to reach the Winnats Pass summit in a National Hill Climb! She also took the gold medal for her age group.

Netball Team Success

The team recently competed in a friendly netball fixture against Leigh Academy Blackheath and we are pleased to report a 7- 3 win. The team looked extremely smart in their new SCWA netball dresses. Well done to both teams.
