Post 16 Advice and Guidance

Over the course of the Autumn Term, SCWA have focused on educating Year 11 students on the multiple choices students have available to them when it comes to their Post 16 options and focusing on ensuring that students have made their applications.  Students have had multiple tutor sessions highlighting the core routes (Sixth Form, College, Apprenticeship, Traineeship programmes) alongside different types of qualifications

(A levels, International Baccalaureate, BTECS, T-Levels and more) and levels (Level 3, Level 2, Level 1 and entry levels).  In addition to this, we have hosted many assemblies from a range of local providers to help students make informed decisions.  This includes assemblies from our very own Arden Sixth Form, Shooters Hill Sixth Form College, North Kent College and Hadlow College.  Ms Taylor, our Level 6 qualified impartial careers advisor has booked careers appointments for students to attend.  This is an ongoing process with appointments continuing in the Spring Term, however, should any students require more immediate advice and guidance please contact Ms Taylor (anna.taylor-carmody@scwa.org.uk).  Moving forward into the Spring Term we will be focusing on the apprenticeship route with initiatives such as Apprenticeship Academy and Talk the Talk interview support for those students who are applying to apprenticeships.  Staff have been really impressed with students' dedication to exploring options and ensuring that they are making informed, appropriate choices.

To support parents further, please click here to access the Parent’s guide to Post 16 choices overview which includes advice and guidance on all core routes, applications and entry requirements.

Post 18 Advice and Guidance

Our Year 13s have been working exceptionally hard planning for their futures, with many applying to university via UCAS and others making applications to apprenticeship programmes.  The UCAS deadline is Monday 25th January 2023.   Staff have been incredibly impressed with the quality of personal statements which showcase the multiple activities that students have been involved in to prepare for the application alongside their academic rigour and the way students have been preparing themselves for interviews.  We have also been incredibly pleased to see some of our students flourish with their applications to Higher and Degree Level which includes multiple stages to the interview process, with some students already holding offers which are outstanding!  Moving forward into the Spring Term we will be focusing more on the apprenticeship route with initiatives such as Apprenticeship Academy and Talk the Talk interview support for those students who are applying to apprenticeships.
