CTE stands for "Career and Technical Education." In the State of Indiana, all students are encouraged to explore careers through CTE programming offered in high school. Seymour High School offers well over 27 Career Pathways housed within our high school campus, Ag Science Center, and C4 campuses at Columbus East, Columbus North, and McDowell. Many of these CTE pathways offer dual credit opportunities, meaning students can earn both high school and college credits.
To graduate from high school, ALL students must demonstrate postsecondary-ready competencies. This can be achieved in a variety of ways, but a majority of Seymour High School students complete this requirement through taking three courses within a CTE pathway. For example, a student can meet this graduation requirement by taking three courses in the Construction Trades pathway, completing courses in 1) Principles of Construction Trades, 2) General Carpentry, and 3) Framing and Finishing. For a list of all CTE pathways SHS has to offer, please click our 24-25 CTE Career Guide below.
