Dual Credit is when a high school student takes Ivy Tech classes at their high school (for free!) and the course allows students to fulfill high school graduation requirements and provides college credits. That’s why it’s called Dual Credit—you get credit toward both high school and college graduation at the same time. The classes are taught during the regular school day by certified high school teachers and there is no cost to students!
Dual credit is NOT automatically earned simply by taking the course. Students must complete various steps to achieve dual credit, including the setup of a student account on the DualEnroll website through Ivy Tech. Some courses require students submit qualifying "college-ready" scores, including PSAT, SAT, or ACT scores, or a cumulative GPA of 2.6 or higher for 11th and 12th grades. In many cases, students need to complete a Knowledge Assessment. This assesses student levels of reading, writing, and math. It is FREE and scores are accepted up to 4 years after the assessment is taken.

Students may earn a block of 30 credit hours of general education, college-level coursework that is guaranteed to transfer between all Indiana, public colleges and universities. Seymour High School has provided a checklist for students to review and track their progress towards achieving the ICC. Students are also encouraged to set up accounts using the ICC planning tool at https://mycollegecore.org/plan/ and share the plan with their school counselor.
