Primary School Sampler Module

4th, 5th and 6th class are taking part in a  six-week language sampler module in Spanish. The module will take place over a six-week period in Term 3.

Green Schools- Bike Week

Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál has been successfully engaged in An Taisce’s Green-Schools programme for many years. We are extremely proud of all our achievements to date!

To celebrate this work and for Bike Week, Chiara Hanrahan visited the school on Tuesday 31st May and Wednesday 1st June to deliver a Bike Skills session to all classes. 

On the day Chiara who is a fully trained and vetted cycling instructor, covered some basic safety skills with the children and reinforced these skills through fun by playing some games in the yard.


Peace Proms 2022

Peace Proms - UL Sports Arena Limerick

4th , 5th and 6th class had an amazing day at the Peace Proms Concert in the UL Sports Arena on Saturday 14th May. Well done to everyone!


4th , 5th and 6th class took part in the first online rehearsal for Peace Proms 2022 with conductor Greg Beardsell on the 2nd March.

Grandparent's Day

Classes enjoyed the Santa walk, Christmas concert and movies in the  library.  

Sarah Murray from the Parents Association kindly donated Christmas hampers to each  class for a Christmas raffle.

1st class donated three hampers to Kilkenny Helping the Homeless.

Trick or Treat for Temple Street Halloween Fashion Show and Fundraiser

We held our annual Halloween party , fashion show and dance to raise money for Temple Streets children hospital on Friday 25th October.

Dogs Trust Visit- 23rd and 24th October

All pupils wore the Irish colours to school on Friday 18th October to show our support for the Irish Rugby team  who are competing in  the Rugby World Cup in  Japan. At assembly pupils and teachers sang a great rendition of Ireland's Call.

Biodiversity Workshop

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2019

World Book Day 

We celebrated World Book Day on the 7th March 2019.  Every child brought in their favourite book and dressed up as a character from their chosen book. We had a show for all classes in the hall and prizes  were awared to pupils for the most creative costumes in each class. 

Grandparents Day 2019

As part of Catholic Schools Week , we celebrated Grandparents Day on Monday 4th February. Each class performed a selection of songs and a prayer service was held in our school hall. Grandparents were then  invited to take a walk around the school and visit the classrooms and they enjoyed some refreshements.

Artist Workshop - Paul Bokslag

All classes participated in three workshops with the artist Paul Bokslag. The sessions  focused on elements of drawing, paint and paper cuts. For the  final workshop pupils were guided by Paul to create a variety of individual papercuts, which have been pieced together to produce a large colourful display which can be seen in the GP room.

Michelle Castiaux from Heritage in Schools visited our school for three days  in October. Children participated in a number of hands-on workshops on the theme of Biodiversity. The lessons focused on

Basic rock Identification: Irish rock samples to handle

Basic geology and fossils: learn about fossils while making your own


All classes had the opportunity to attend The Railway Children by M&M Theatrical Productions, which was held in school on the 26th of September 2018.
