Enrolment Application and Information for 2026/2027
Scoil Mhuire gan Smál was selected as one of the 30 pilot schools across Ireland to take part in the Grow at School programme.
Funding was provided from The Community Foundation Ireland and the organisation Grow It Yourself piloted this research programme over three years (2019-2021).
Our school received four raised beds, a specifically designed garden plan and associated curriculum resources. As part of the research programme , our school was tracked over the three year period. Online surveys were completed by the pupils and progress was tracked using a weekly digital diary.
2019/2020
Junior Infants planted garlic and onions in December.
Junior Infants enjoyed pulling some carrots, parsnips and beetroot from the school garden.
Second Class enjoyed harvesting some carrots and parsnips during their nature walk.
Le Chéile harvested the carrots and beetroot that we sowed last year.
2018/2019
Junior Infants embarked on the Grow at School food growing project on the 1st April 2019. The pupils planted peas and broad beans.
Senior Infants planted potatoes.
1st class planted parsnips.
1st and 2nd class planted a variety of salad leaves and radishes.
3rd and 4th class planted carrots and beetroot.
