Veretos is a parliamentary republic located just east of Cordona in the northern central part of Toltecan. It is made up of two main islands and a smattering of smaller cays, with the capital city of Monbarra located on the main western island. Veretos relies most heavily on tourism for its profit, as thousands of visitors flock to its sandy shores each year. It lacks many other major industries but is supported by its strong trade connections with Khulna, its formal colonial owner until independence approximately 100 years ago.
Regions
Jacendo Ile
The primary island of Veretos, Jacendo Ile features the capital Monbarra, a small city catering to incoming tourists and cruise ships. Most of the island is mountainous, resulting in spectacular views of its many hidden coves and beaches. Infrastructure on the island outside the main tourist regions is poor, creating a dichotomy between locals who live there and the richer foreigners who live and work around the tourist regions and control many of the companies that turn a major profit for Veretos. It can often be difficult to keep that money within the nation, though.
Haribaro Ile
Another major island in Veretos is a sparsely populated island featuring a volcano that last erupted in 1996. Most of the island has been set aside as a national park to prevent the development and attract tourists. Rumor has it, though, that the national park designation was created to drive the indigenous population off their lands and integrate them into mainstream Veretos society.

Verato's ideology focused on the needs of the population, including the tribes.
In diplomacy, we want economic change relations which would contribute to the well-being of both parties.
With regard to the army, we seek to protect our sovereignty and people
The islands were originally inhabited by Indian tribes. The islands were named by Vasco da Gama in 1497.
Tourism now is the main economic activity. The islands are usually visited by about 5 million people a year. The islands are famous for white sand, perfect beaches and crystal water.
The culture comes mainly from West African, European and American influences. The dominant language has been Creole, based on English. The dances most often associated with the culture of the Islands are bachata and salsa. Traditional food is rice, fish and spicy. Local farmers grow fruits and vegetables. Their goods are sold in local open-air markets, while supermarkets usually sell only imported products. Luxury restaurants often serve tourists, offering a combination of dishes with tropical drops.

Week 2 - Resource Usage
What resources do you have?
Fishery. We would be good at whaling site but it's against the law
What resources do you want to have and why?
Rice, exotic fruits, palm oil and wine. It would be necessary for our tourists. Build materials (wood), vehicle (rent) for building resort.
Where can you get these resources (can you find or develop these resources internally or will you need to trade for them)?
All these food possible to grow in Veratos. Wood and vehicle we need to trade
How do your institutions, governance style, and internal country politics help or hinder your ability to find, distribute, and use resources?
The internal country politics help us to find something but we don't have resources. They help us to grow everything we have and give money for these. In case when we don't have something they find someone to trade.
Week 4 - Energy Policy
Where does your energy come from and where does it go?
Our country's energy is one of the few environmentally friendly on the continent. This is because all electricity is generated exclusively at the wind (1 station or 50% of total production) and tidal (1 station or 50% of total production, as well) power plants, so 100% of Veretos' energy is renewable. Almost all it goes to the needs of the population and industry. However, a small amount of energy remains in excess, so it can be sold to another country.
How would you like to change your energy usage?
We think, that production and usage of energy in Veretos is close to ideal and do not need any significant changes at all. Although we produce more energy than consume, we still don't sell it. This's the only thing we want to change about our energy policy.
Week 6 - Natural Hazards Policy
(describe internal natural hazards policy here - requirements will be posted on the Events page in Week 6)
