Dear TAPCo Students and Families -Β
I am honored and excited to introduce myself as your new Principal. Β When I was able to visit in December, a sense of belonging and care was palpable in TAPCoβs spaces.Β I want to appreciate Mr. Schaudt for serving as interim principal and I look forward to partnering with him and the entire community as I join TAPCo.
I understand that my arrival signifies a transition in the schoolβs history: I commit to being sensitive to that and for creating as much space as possible for us to get to know each other.
As a teacher and leader, I value integrity, creation, equity, and quality.Β My beliefs and practices have been greatly influenced by my experiences in K-12 schools that center the arts and civics.Β My experiences as a performing artist, songwriter, and playwright (especially as a young person) have also driven my passion for arts integration and arts education.Β One of the things I am most proud of is starting a small high school with a focus on artivism*.Β Because of these experiences and many others, I feel great curiosity and respect for TAPCoβs history.Β I am looking forward to hearing your stories, getting to know the people who tell them, and envisioning with you whatβs possible in the future.Β
This week, I will be meeting with students in small groups to introduce myself and begin getting to know them.Β I will also meet with the Student Government and make myself available during most lunches.
In the coming months, I also plan to attend parent association meetings and form a student principal advisory group.Β There will be several forums for feedback and input from students and parents before the end of the year.
Thank you, in advance, for your flexibility and trust.Β I am excited to join a community that achieves excellence through the synergy of core academics and the arts.
Sincerely,
Hannah Kehn (she/her)
