where we take care of ourselves and each other
Starting in the 2025-26 school year, in accordance with New York State law, New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) under the updated policy, Chancellor's Regulation A-413, students are not permitted to use personal internet-enabled electronic devices — like cell phones, tablets, laptops, smart watches, portable music and entertainment systems — during the school day.
This change supports the NY State's intent to create distraction-free schools and aims to ensure safe and focused learning environments across all NYCPS schools.
Students can use their devices when traveling to and from school, but they must have them turned off and stored during the school day.
TAPCo will provide direct contact information for school staff, so parents can contact their child in case of an emergency.
There are exceptions to the policy, including if:
🩺 The device is needed for medical reasons.
💙 The student has caretaker responsibilities.
📑 Their Individual Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan requires access.
Guidance Counselors can contact AP Dayana Delpech at jdelpech@schools.nyc.gov to schedule Zoom and/or in-person tours during school hours for students.
