Our students became young designers and creators! Using Cricut Design Space, students brainstormed and created their own unique t-shirt designs. They explored fonts, images, and shapes, learning how to layer and size each element to fit their ideas. With a little guidance, students used the software to finalize their designs and prepare them for cutting.
Once the designs were ready, the Cricut machine cut the images out of heat transfer vinyl. Students carefully peeled away the extra vinyl (a process called weeding) so only their design remained. Then, they used the Cricut AutoPress to press their artwork onto t-shirts. The AutoPress used heat and pressure to bond the vinyl permanently to the fabric—just like a real printing shop!
This fun project taught students digital design skills, how to work with materials and tools safely, and gave them a chance to express their creativity in a wearable way. Each student went home with a custom t-shirt they were proud to wear!
