Our PS 72 Student Innovators combined creativity, coding, and civic engagement to build a fully functional LEGO voting booth! Using LEGO bricks, motors, and sensors, the students engineered a custom-built machine that allowed classmates and staff to vote on which animal the school should symbolically adopt from the Bronx Zoo. Each voter used a color-coded LEGO brick to cast their vote, and the booth’s built-in scanner and computer system tracked and tallied the results in real time. This hands-on project gave students an exciting opportunity to explore technology, practice coding, and experience the power of collective decision-making in a fun and meaningful way.
