Ralph comes back from the trip and tells Piggy that they saw the beast 

Jack tries to take control of the group 

Jack calls an assembly for the group 

Jack and Ralph argue. Jack questions Ralph's authority by asking "Who thinks Ralph oughtn't be a chief?" 

The boys split into two groups - Ralph's group and Jack's group. Ralph is upset that the group split but Piggy is glad that Jack isn't in the group anymore 

Jack's group kills a pig and puts the pig's head on a stick 

Simon talks to "Lord of the Flies" which is the pig's on a stick and  faints at the end
