Piggy, Ralph, and Simon go back to the shelter 

A dead paratrooper falls from the sky and lands on the island 

The twins Sam and Eric try to make a fire. They see the dead paratrooper. They think its the beast

Ralph calls an assembly (meeting) 

Jack decides to hunt the beast down with a group of boys and wooden spears 

Littluns and Piggy stay behind while the rest of the boys hunt the beast 

Jack doesn't want to use the conch. He gets into another argument with Ralph

The boys decide to go to the top of the mountain to look for the beast 

Ralph lets Jack lead the group to find the beast

Ralph reminds the group that they still have to keep the signal fire going and look for the beast

a shell you can blow into for music or loud sound

trees/plants that grow along the 

a huge dent in the ground created by the airplane crash 

a stretch of salt water separated from the sea by a low sandbank or coral reef.
