Early Literacy Support Program (ELSP):

The Early Literacy Support Program (ELSP) was designed to support year two Kindergarten students that are struggling to acquire necessary foundational literacy skills (concepts of print, phonological awareness, and phonics). This program was developed using research and the best thinking available at the time (2020). Since that time, new research has highlighted that once children reach the age of 5, regardless of phonological awareness knowledge and understanding that phonemic awareness instruction is most influential in supporting students' literacy development.  As a result, current guidance suggests that ELSP - Part A and Part B be used to support Year 1 students and ELSP - Part C be utilized to support Year 2 students.
