Social Studies: Today you will be learning about Entrepreneurship. Please click here to watch a video about what it means to be an entrepreneur. Then, you will brainstorm ideas for creating your own business! Please write down at least 3 different ideas that you have for creating your own business. Ask yourself questions such as "What problem will creating this business solve? What will this business do? How much will this business cost to run?" You do not have to share your brainstorm ideas with me yet, but please write them down and hang onto them. Tomorrow, you will be working on creating a poster for your new business.

Then, you will be taking what you have learned from the video to brainstorm a business that you would like to be the entrepreneur of. Today you will just be brainstorming, but the next few days you will be creating a poster for your new business. Think about questions such as, "What problem will this business solve? What will my business do? How much will it cost to get my business started?"

Click Here to watch a video of two kids who created their own business and presented their ideas on the TV series "Shark Tank."

Math: Please log into ThinkCentral and begin working on the assignment titled "Chapter 9 Review Assignment." This assignment will help you prepare for your chapter 9 tests on Friday. You will have today and tomorrow to complete this assignment. Make sure you review any questions that you miss on this assignment so that you do not make the same mistakes when you take your test on Friday!

Reading: Please log into google classroom and click on the document titled, "Shiloh-Chapter 5-Mr. Webb's Copy." Then, click here to listen to a read aloud of these pages. The story will pick up right where you left off yesterday. You only need to watch the video nine minutes and forty-three seconds in (that's where chapter 5 ends.) Then, go to google classroom and click on the assignment titled, "Shiloh-Chapters 5 Questions-Mr. Webb's Copy." Make sure you submit these questions when you are done-you may use the reading to help you. Please make sure you are working towards your 4th quarter AR goals by reading for 20 minutes each night! Remember, you can now take your tests just like you would access them if we were at the school!

Social Studies: Now that you have learned about entrepreneurship and kinds of questions entrepreneurs need to ask themselves before starting their own business, please pull out your brainstorming ideas from yesterday that involved you coming up with ideas for your own business. Today, you will pick your favorite idea, and you will be creating an advertisement for your business by creating a poster. If you do not have access to a poster board, you may also create your advertisement on a piece of construction paper (I would prefer you to make it on a reasonably sized poster board so that you have more room to make your advertisement look creative and appealing!) When you are creating your advertisement, be sure to include the name of your business, and a brief description of what your business does (this is where those questions from yesterday come into play. Be sure to ask yourself questions like "What problem will creating this business solve? What will this business do? Why should everyone support my business?") I am not going to give you a requirement on the amount of sentences or pictures you should include on your poster, but your goal will be to make people who read your advertisement want to support your business. So for example, if you are planning on opening up your own gym, your goal should be to create an advertisement that makes everyone want to join your gym. If you are going to open your own restaurant, your advertisement should persuade people to eat at your restaurant. You can decorate your posters with your own hand drawn pictures, and you can also print off pictures online and glue them onto your poster if you'd like. Remember what I always say in class: you will NOT be graded on your artwork; rather, you will be graded on the amount of effort you are putting into your advertisement and whether or not you make an effort to convince people to support your business. Your advertisement will be due by the end of the day Friday. When you are done with your advertisement, you may email me a picture of it, or you can upload a picture of it into the assignment on google classroom titled "April 29, 2020-Social Studies-My Business Advertisement." I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! Good luck!

Language Arts: Today, you will be learning about suffixes. Please click here to watch a video over suffixes. Then, log onto google classroom and click on the assignment titled "Suffixes Activity." In this assignment, the words and suffixes that you need to drag are found at the bottom of the slide, so you may need to scroll down to see them.

Religion: Please see Miss Luersman's page. Miss Luersman has set up a google classroom for Religion. If you go to where you would normally find my google classroom, you should also see one titled "4-1 Religion Class." Please log into this as soon as possible!

Math: Please log into ThinkCentral and complete your "Chapter 9 Review Assignment" from yesterday. Make sure you look over any questions that you miss on this assignment so that you are prepared for your chapter 9 test tomorrow!

Reading: Please log into google classroom and click on the document titled, "Shiloh-Chapter 6-Mr. Webb's Copy." Then, you can listen to the read aloud of the story by clicking HERE and HERE. Stop once chapter 6 is over at time 9:47. (You can read and listen at the same time if you would like.) Then, go to google classroom and click on the assignment titled, "Shiloh-Chapter 6 questions-Mr. Webb's Copy." Make sure you submit these questions when you are done-you may use the reading to help you. Please make sure you are working towards your 4th quarter AR goals by reading for 20 minutes each night! Remember, you can now take your tests just like you would access them if we were at the school!

Science: Please log into google classroom and click on the document titled "Health-Communicable and Noncommunicable diseases- pdf." We have reached the point of the year where we are going to be switching over from science to health! The two are closely related, and for the remainder of the year, we are going to be focusing on concepts that fall under the "health" category. These lessons and assignments are still going to be posted under "science" on this calendar and on google classroom to make things as easy as possible. Your assignment for today is to open the previously mentioned document on google classroom and read through pages 1 and 2 of the pdf file.

A few things to consider when reading this document:

1) When you open this document, every other page of it WILL be upside-down, it is not an error. But don't worry, it is a simple fix! All you need to do is go to the top, middle part of the page and look right below the address bar (the place where the name of the website appears.) Directly below the address bar, there will be another bar with symbols on it. The first symbol is a "____" symbol, which will make the page smaller. The next symbol is a "+" symbol, which will make the page bigger. The following symbol is the one I want you to click-it will rotate your page for you. Click this symbol multiple times until the page that you are reading appears the right way so that you can read through it.

2) Do not worry about answering any of the questions that go along with the reading quite yet-that will be your assignment for tomorrow.

Language Arts: Today we are going to be reviewing prefixes and suffixes. If you would like a reminder of the similarities and differences of these two things, you can always go back to the videos from yesterday and Tuesday and re-watch them. We are also going to look at "root words." A root word is a word that can stand on its own, without a prefix or a suffix added to it. So for example, the root word "try" can stand by itself, but if you add the prefix "re-" to the word, you get the word "retry." Similarly, the word "eat" can stand alone, but if you add the suffix "-en" to the word, you get the word "eaten." Please log onto google classroom and complete the assignment titled, "Prefixes and Suffixes Review-Mr. Webb's Copy." Make sure you submit your assignment when you are done.

Religion: Please see Miss Luersman's page. Miss Luersman has set up a google classroom for Religion. If you go to where you would normally find my google classroom, you should also see one titled "4-1 Religion Class." Please log into this as soon as possible!
