What is advisory?
We want advisory to be a place where students can form relationships between members of their advisory and reflect on their time at SBHS.
More specifically, all students are enrolled in advisory while at SBHS. Each advisory group consists of about a dozen students and an advisor.
Advisory meets throughout the week during Advisory time. Advisory meeting days vary with grade level. 9th and 10th grade students will see their advisor everyday. 11th graders meet twice a week. 12th graders meet once a week with advisors.
During this time, the group will do anything from group-building activities, chatting with their advisor, to working on a student's Personalized Learning Plan (PLP).
What happens at the end of the year?
At the end of the year we have PLP Meetings. Students meet with their advisor, parents, and other guests to have a conversation about their progress throughout the year. These presentations are based on the students’ portfolios, which they build during the course of the year.
