All composition will be facilitated through Noteflight

Composition is an endeavor that requires some basic understanding of music theory and principles of construction. Please complete the Music Theory Lessons prior to attempting the composition strand.

This video is from a channel called "Extra Credits." These are 3 people who delve into video game design and review. This video is about how gaming music and composition in gaming has evolved since the 8 bit wonders of the 80s.

If you want to start to emulate masters, there is a great YouTube channel called "Film Score Analysis". It has annotated .pdfs of the music as it's described by the original composer. The example on the right is John Williams' "Arrival at Hogwarts."

There is also a great section of videos where they've removed the scores and simply left the sound effects only. Good for a laugh and to realize how much music actually does in cinema.

Brian Balmages (ASCAP) has started a small tutorial on his process in writing for various ensembles. Sauk Prairie has played a lot of his music over the past decade. It's a great insight into a working composer's mind!
