Hello! My name is Brooke Bartlett, and I'm the library media specialist. This will be my fourth year in the library and my 17th year in education. Over the years, I have taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade, and I have also worked as a reading and math interventionist. As a librarian, my goal is to foster a love of learning, exploration, and of course, books!
When my nose isn’t buried in a book, I can be found hanging with my two pups, Madi and Sadie. We love to trail run, bike, ski, and explore new places all around the globe.
Art Education

Hi my name is Holly Preece, and I am the art teacher here at Lakeside Primary.
I am so glad to be part of the Mount Washington Valley community where I grew up, working with students and parents to create an exciting learning experience for everyone.
I attended Plymouth State University in NH, and received my bachelor’s degree in Art Education with a concentration in ceramics. While there I had great opportunities to practice many different art skills while using the White Mountains as inspiration. This will be my 16th year in the SAU9 district, working as a paraprofessional for 6 years, and later teaching art.
I enjoy teaching students the skills they need to be a successful person each and every art class. Students practice many life skills that they will use in the real world. Creativity, confidence, problem solving skills, perseverance, receiving constructive feedback, collaboration, dedication, accountability, and much more. I strive to align my curriculum with each grade levels’ units as well as incorporating the National Visual Arts Standards and the New Hampshire State Art Standards. I like to expose the students to a variety of different materials and introduce them to the artwork of artists from all around the world and throughout history.
My goal is to allow students to explore a variety of art materials, discover different genres and styles, and most importantly, have FUN being creative!
When I'm not at school you can find me running, hiking, camping, creating my own art and enjoying the beautiful White Mountains with my two kids, husband, and dog Neely.

Physical Education
s_porter@sau9.org
My name is Sonya Porter. This year is a huge change for me. I’ve been teaching Physical Education for K-6 graders for 13 years (in Jackson). I’m excited to be at Lakeside as my children are Pine Tree and Kennett alumni. Sadly, I will not be teaching any 3-6 graders anymore.
While attending college in Maine and Scotland (BS in Elem. Ed./Health), then at the U of Iowa (MA in Leisure Studies), I found every opportunity to combine learning, work and travel. I also jumped at any chance to combine my love of teaching with sports and being outdoors. Unforgettable memories include working at an outdoor adventure center with rock climbing, ropes courses, hiking, and archery in the Lake District, England and teaching New Games and Team Building to camp and recreation staff in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Hobbies include hiking and paddleboarding, most often with my dog; along with kayaking, sewing, reading and exploring near and far. As a Scout leader, my sons and I have fond memories of camping, the 50-miler trip, winning Cast Iron Chef competitions at scout camp, and of lasting friendships made. I truly enjoy coaching and am grateful to have coached my three sons in youth basketball and baseball programs while my husband coached two of them in AAU basketball.
About the photo: By chance, I have now jumped rope at the summit of South Moat and Mount Crawford as I forgot my dog’s leash and rigged one using the jump rope that I always have in my car.
