Newsela, Annotating, and Prompts

Newsela is just one example of a site which offers leveled reading materials for your students. There are many options of current events, primary source documents, and human interest stories for you to choose from. Embedded within the site is the ability for students to annotate, highlight, and respond to prompts you have created.

Watch this short tutorial to see how you can customize texts to your needs and to the individual needs of your students: https://support.newsela.com/hc/en-us/articles/205704565-Annotations

Below you will find a link to an article that I have added annotations for students and crafted a response request under WRITE. Each student can be assigned a level and you can customize the annotations for each individual reading level.

I have also created a Text Set including articles that the students can choose from for the Technology Choice article. This text set can be added or subtracted from. There are Text Sets that are already created, or you can create your own. https://newsela.com/text-sets/149075/tstt-technology-for-better-or-for-worse
