Fight the Fake Flyers

The eighth grade students are completing their digital citizenship unit. During this unit, students learned about safe use of social media, how to determine the quality of websites, and some of the risks and dangers of online use.

For the final phase of the unit, the students simulated an online learning experience. Each student selected a partner and was required to collaboratively research a variety of topics and answer questions on a shared document. Following their research, students worked together using their digital tools to select one of the topics they researched and create a flyer teaching others about what they learned. Throughout the three-day project, students could only use comments within Google Docs, Google Hangouts, or email to share information.
